If someone mails you an item worth $20 Canadian or less, you don't have to pay duty or tax on the item (see The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) MEMORANDUM D8-2-2 for details).

U.K.
The Value Added Tax (Imported Goods) Relief Order 1984 (Amendment Order 1995) which provides for relief from VAT on final importations of certain goods. It increases the maximum value for such relief on consignments of low value to £18.
